MoCA Lecture Animamix - Metaphors of Un/Real
09 December 2009

Animation and comic are two separated words, nevertheless, in the contemporary Chinese they are combined as one word. Furthermore, there is no corresponding translation to it. Thus, the term 'animamix' was coined by Victoria Lu to describe the new trend, combined 'animation' and 'comics'.
Comic, cartoon and animation developed into aesthetic attitudes which could catalogue independently and prevalent in many realms. Under the propaganda by mass media various simplified visual characters have become the communication code language between the juveniles worldwide, but not the group memories and recognition monopolized by merely one generation or one minority. It is more like a communication manner which is simulated and recreated to express personal ambition, conception and imagination.
