MoCA Creative Salon - New Trend of contemporary jewelry design

How can artworks be worn? How can jewelry be non-functional? What are the new meanings and explanations of jewelry in the contemporary context? With these questions, we can discuss about the re-definition of jewelry in fashion, under the impact of modern art on jewelry. We can get to know the development and changes of design concept from the works of different artists and designers.
The lecturer is aiming to introduce the new concept of modern jewelry making, so that the audience can learn the recent trend of contemporary jewelry design and the difference between the East and the West in jewelry design development process, and the various displays of jewelry as art creation and fashion design.
The audience can also wear their DIY jewelry and share with each other the experience and joy of their creation in the lecture.
Speaker: Shannon Guo
Shannon Guo, received her MA and MFA degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, USA. She majored in Jewelry and Metals and minored in ceramics. Her artworks have been exhibited both nationally and internationally and have received mumouroas awards. She is currently running the jewelry and metals studio at the College of Fine Arts of Shanghai University. She, the curator of the "twocities gallery" in Shanghai, the vice director for the Jewelry Design committee of Gems & Jewelry Trade Association of China, a member of the Metals Art Committee of Chinese Arts and Crafts Association,is also the vice director of the Jewelry committee of the Shanghai Industrial Designers Association.
