More about the Exhibition
MoCA Shanghai brings the year to an end with a special exhibition highlighting a unique phenomenon in Chinese contemporary art, "Couples in Contemporary Art", showcases 15 artistic twosomes who both work and cohabit under the same roof. The subject of art couples, an intriguing combination of gender and power, never fails to excite a public curious to know what goes on behind closed doors. With their eccentric personalities, progressive lifestyles and ambitious pursuits, how well do artists coexist yet maintain creative borders, and how, if at all, does the relationship pervade their work? This and other questions are explored under the curatorial direction of one of Shanghai's renowned curator couples, Jiang Mei and Li Xu.
