This exhibition features the work of over 20 influential Indonesian artists and exemplifies the unique development of contemporary art in Indonesia. It is a presentation of artworks from Indonesian artists and exemplifies the development of the contemporary art of Indonesia outside the context of Europe and the United States. It will portray the concept of "multeity" in the contemporary art scene that marks a tension between "globality" and "multeity". These dynamic artists reflect a broad range of experiences and aesthetic values that span generations, and interpret an equally wide range of subject matter - figurative, abstract, and conceptual - in a variety of media including painting, photography, video, sculpture, and interactive installations. The resulting works are thought provoking, visually seductive and entertaining, and illustrate the distinctive feel and inimitable expression of Indonesia's contemporary artists.
